Just as all hope seems lost, you look at the knife-wielder as the flash of light goes off, and realise something you've know the whole time. They're you. The knife drops to the ground, the lights come up and you're suddenly on your own. Slowly, the paint starts to peel around you. The floorboards rise into the air like dust, chip by chip. As you clutch the pipe and collapse onto the floor, covered in blood and sweat, everything melts away into darkness. But there is no fear. Only a deep sense of peace as a song distantly plays that you remember from long ago.
